I've been trying to get up in the morning to work out and Friday morning, Russell came with me! As we got home, I was feeling pretty good, on a nice endorphin high! As I was getting ready for work-I realized I started my period! I know, not something I normally cheer about- and as I told Russ he said that it was a little awkward that I was stoked and ready to throw a party. I was a little excited- it marked the beginning of "gettin-er-done!"
When Day 1 was to arrive, I had been instructed to call Oregon Reproductive Medicine(ORM) so that we could schedule some baseline testing- an ultra sound and some blood work. To my surprise, they wanted me to come in that morning. My fabulous, supportive co-workers covered my class for a couple hours as I went in for the tests. I had an ultrasound to check out the status of my ovaries and follicles. Well, I don't want to brag or anything, but I kinda rocked the ultrasound :) ha ha. My left side had 15 follicles, and he could see an egg...which is kinda cool, and my right side had 11-12 follicles. Besides a random mass, a cyst, floating semi-near my ovary-that the Dr said not to worry about, it was super great!
I completed my blood work that checked out my Estrogen hormone level, my Follicle Stimulating Hormone(FSH) level, and tested to see if I was at risk for making poly cysts on my ovaries. All of the tests came back normal and positive- except for one we are still waiting on, it takes a week.
This coming week I'm going in for more tests. On Wednesday, I have 3 tests: a Sonohystogram (SIS)- which means they insert a catheter into my uterus, fill it with some fluid and check out the walls of my uterus. That just sounds like something will be spelunking around in my lady parts...not super fun. Then a Doppler Ultrasound- checking the blood flow in my uterine cavity, and a Trial Embryo Transfer which evaluates the shape and length of my cervix and uterus under ultrasound guidance with the same catheters and techniques used for the actual embryo transfer. WOW! Wish me luck!
Lastly, Russ and I will go in Friday to discuss all of the risks and then set up our calendar dates for all our future tests. We are on our way! Thank you for all your prayers and good thoughts our way!

Oh my! that's so exciting! Yay for periods.... I think. in this case at least :) sad you weren't already pregnant (seriously how fun would that have been?) but glad you are starting off with normal results and rocking ultrasounds! Can't wait to hear more about everything!
Sooooo exciting, Brie! Yeah, the whole process kind of makes you feel like a science experiment, but with the best possible result -- babies! :-) Loving the updates.
Thank you for educating us all on the the process. Glad you are happy! We are so excited for you guys.
