"Miracle in the Making"

My sister in law, Sandi, is very talented. Together with my lovely mother, we spent about an hour tossing back n forth ideas and settled on a vague idea of a branch and a baby. We brainstormed many ideas and nothing was completely resonating with me. I had wanted something to do with a tree in the picture- representing our "to be, family tree." They both had some fresh ideas and combing them, we got, "Miracle in the Making." It's Exactly what I imagined..better even! Good thing I've got an idea pro for a mother and an amazing artist for a sister in law.
Since we've decided on a name, we've really had some amazing mini miracles happen along the way. Russell and I have been contacting local businesses and restaurants inviting them to donate in any way for our fundraiser. We've gotten some good responses, which we are so grateful for, but different than what I experienced two years ago when I was in charge of Stake Summer Olympics and got some really generous donations.
Yesterday, we had a meeting scheduled with the GM, Troy, from our local Mill Plain & 117th Bugerville. How good does that sound right now? Anyway, we have had a good response from them in past for donations and judging from our brief meeting and phone conversation, Russ and I felt positive about meeting with Troy. However, I was really nervous for some reason. So Russ and I said a little prayer that things would work out well and that we wouldn't be so nervous.
Side note: As I reflect, I think this process is hard because if people are not interested in helping, which is totally okay, it makes it hard because it feels like a personal rejection. Even though what we're asking; total strangers to freely give- is uncomfortable, the thought of what we're trying to accomplish is so worth it, so we keep going. But its when we get turned down- it feels like a little piece of our dream disappears.
So, back to our meeting with Troy. All three of us sat in the booth and I handed him a letter and a flier with our information and purpose. Then, with a pseudo-confident voice, I invited him to donate and participate in our cause. I started, "We know that this is a tough time for people with the economy...." But before I ended that statement he said, "Well, yeah, but isn't that all the more reason to give?"
Who was this guy? He then offered to help and asked what we wanted. We replied, "donations, gift cards..." He offered, "One million dollars?" I quickly replied if he could do that, then we'd definitely name our child after him.
I mentioned that in the past Burgerville had donated 10 gift cards- he said that was something that he could definitely do. Insert JUBILATION and ELATION! Victory! It boosted our spirits instantly. However, it didn't stop there- he continued to inquire if we needed more man power to help set up or run the carnival that he and his employees could help with. We were floored! What? What's that Troy? You want to go above and beyond and help a couple you just met? We thanked him and said we'd be in contact very soon to discuss man power needs. Amazing! People are good.
We finished our conversation and he said he could get the gift cards right now for us. A few minutes later we shook his hand and walked out with the gift cards in our hands and a smile on our face. We got back in the car and looked at the stack of cards he'd given us and realized that it was more than we expected. I counted them up and realized that he had given us double, 20 gift cards! Insert tears! We said a prayer of gratitude and quietly thanked our Heavenly Father for Troy's goodness!

How could anyone not LOVE you and want to do all they can for you and your hubby. So happy to hear this uplifting story. Xoxo
I love your logo. I'm happy that you are receiving such great response to your carnival. I know it's been a long tough road getting to where you are, but I hope that now you can enjoy all the love and excitement others have for you on this awesome journey. Love ya!
Do you know what is probably the most amazing part about all of this? Your child will grow up with the confidence of knowing how loved and important they are. They will be able to read your blog and see pictures of the event that was all for them! Can you imagine if our parents had done that for us? It seems like most of us are just accidents ha! But your baby will never doubt how wanted and how important they are! Lucky lucky baby :)
wow. that man scored big points in heaven! and furthermore, I like him-so he's definitely going places... :) Your logo is awesome! i love you.
You know what is so awesome about this whole process? Is that it's nice to get online & read something inspirational instead of sadness & desperation. Love that you two are willing to share your story! Thank you for allowing us all to share in your journey. Xoxoxo
This is awesome!!! Let Ben and me know what we can do to help, we have nothing but time once our musical gets over next weekend. And that time is totally dedicated to you guys. I think Ben is going to call Russell tomorrow/today and ask him a couple things, unless this is your no stress 2 weeks, then we will just let you rest!! Love you Breezy!! You guys are just plain amazing!! This little baby will be one of the most loved babies to have ever been born!
So happy for you!! Generous people are my favorite!!
