Do you remember that part in the movie, "a christmas story" when ralphie dreams he gets the best grade on his paper and his teacher just lavishes him with A+++++++? Well, its no dream, I got an outstanding A++++ on my last visit with the doctor. On Wednesday, I went in for the 3 tests checking my uterus out: the blood flow, checking for blockage or any polyps or cysts, and basically how well I'd be able to carry a baby. I had to go in with a full bladder which is uncomfortable considering how quickly mine gets full :) But all in all, I have an A++++ uterus. The doctor was pleased to see my blood flow within the desired range and how easily the catheters went in without anything blocking the path.
It sounds like such a simple thing, but in all honesty, since we've been trying for so long knowing that we've done all we can, but thinking that something could fundamentally be wrong with me preventing our pregnancy, it was so reassuring and hopeful to know that I'm checking out real nicely. Russ came with me and held my hand through all the "spelunking" and told me that he was so proud of my uterus! ha ha.
We also had a lengthy discussion with our doctor about possible risks. He went through all the potential things that could go wrong or be risky and what he was most concerned about, not that it happens often, but because my follicle count is good, they don't want to Over stimulate my follicles, Hyper ovarian stimulation. Therefore, we're waiting on one more blood test to figure out which stimulating hormone I will be on before the procedure- making sure its the needful amount of hormones.
Lastly, the DR. wanted to be real clear about what could happen if we decide to implant 2 embryos. He said that 1 in every two couples that implant two embryos successfully, get pregnant with twins. BRING IT ON!
He is the father of twins and just wanted to make sure that we at least had an idea of what that would look like: two cribs, two car seats, two of everything which equals out to be twice the cost- he wanted us to dip into what that reality would be like. We obviously can't fully understand what life with twins would be like- and we can always transfer just one embryo, which gives us a 55% of getting pregnant. However, when we transfer two, our chances of getting pregnant with at least one baby goes up to 75%. It seems like a no brainer to us...if we're doing IVF, we're going BIG! We want the best possible chances and if that means twins then "double our pleasure, double our fun, double mint gum!" It'll be crazy, but it'll be our crazy life that we've worked so hard for!

Twins are a piece of cake.
In fact, if it's the same price, I'd have em throw three eggs in there...just sayin.
if anyone could handle crazy. It's you two. Way to go big or go home...or go big in your home!!!! So glad to hear that your uterus is (like you) a bit of an "over-achiever". :) BTW, love your blog!
We went for it for the same reason, Brie! Yes, two babies is a whole lot of work, but incredibly fun too. You can handle it, you're a strong woman!
Twins Rock! That would be awesome if you got a boy and a girl!
Keep it real Misses Ich.
remember that your great grandma hogge had two sets of twins and she said they were easy because they entertained each other - also remember that one of the twins was your grandma rhea and then try to tell me twins are a bad thing - lv u guys
I always wanted the 2-for-1 deal on my first pregnancy. It didn't work out that way. But if we'd done IVF I would have gone with you on this decision—it's a no brainer! Love you guys!
