And it's begun...

We went to our first initial consult appointment with the doctor today and it was a little nerve racking and intimidating along with completely hopeful and exciting! Meeting with him was super informative. Even though we technically know how to get pregnant, he wanted to go through the intricate details of how it happens. After the 40 minute conversation/lesson on our anatomy and the process, I was dumbfounded how anyone gets pregnant. It's kinda a crap shoot ;) The stats or percentages of getting pregnant are pretty much null for us. He said we're at a 1% chance every month of getting pregnant. However, throw IVF in there, and it goes up to 75%! Wahoo!

After Russ and I met with the Dr. we went our separate ways- I went home and he went to work. As I was driving-it all started to hit me. Excited as I was- I was also freaking out a bit. This is a HUGE decision and a HUGE commitment to go through with this procedure. Emotionally it has been challenging because it's all happening so fast-things have just been falling into place- but I feel overwhelmed with all the tests and pre-testing, finances, the "what ifs", and the no guarantees.

However, after having a couple good conversations with Russ and my family and a couple good cries, I felt better. Both of us feel like Heavenly father is guiding us and so we are choosing to trust that! It's hard to believe, but from what the Dr said- we could totally be pregnant by April. This process takes about 10 weeks from when we start the process, which is in 2 weeks. Holy Cow.

Overall, we're super excited for this opportunity and hope that we can pull together to accomplish our goal!

Hi,
You don't know me, but Russ does. I'm his cousin, Rusty's wife, Tammy. Rusty used to live with them when Russell was a kid. We are following your story and my heart aches for what you've been through. We are praying for you. I would love to come for your fundraiser. or help somehow. I am inspired by your running. I had acl surgery so I haven't run a race yet. This reminds me of how hard it is to finish and race and I feel this will be the race ya'll win. Love you, Tammy and Rusty
