Seriously

well, it has been a crazy last few weeks. i was called to talk to my bishop with the thought that he was just "checking in"-I went into his office as light as a feather and came out feeling quite heavy. i was called to be the new YW President of my ward. hello. the bishop extended the call and immediately my eyebrows started sweating. i questioned his sanity, but realized he was serious. Crazy!! with teaching, grad school and YW's, it will be super busy...However, with amazing counselors and advisers at my side & fabulous young women, I am really excited about working with them all. So, i ask all 4 of you who read my blog, to give me advice, ideas for mutual and activities, or any other YW nuggets of truth, if you have them-i can use all the help i can get!

Congrats! (Kind of) It's such a busy and time consuming calling, but so rewarding. I'm the Beehive Advisor in my ward. We only have 12 young women, so it's kind of a tight-knit group. If you have any questions, just ask me and I'll tell you what we have done. Good luck, you'll be so good!!

Brie, you'll be awesome. The girls will love you to bits. I have been in young womens (well, forever...) in this ward for 2 years and have bushels of ideas to send your way. I'll write'cha an email later.

p.s. it is imperative that you get some awesome people on your team. don't settle for less. (and expect a lot of them right from the beginning. it's their burden too.)

Oh, I know that feeling! I have been YW Pres. in two different wards and now I'm primary pres in my current ward. My best advice is to really rely on counselors and not feel like you are asking them for favors every time you give them an assignment. They are not here to serve you, they are here to serve the girls and serve the Lord. You will be such a wonderful example to them and you really can make a huge impact on those girls' lives. Good luck!!!

Can I just suggest not reinventing the wheel- sugardoodle.net, mormonshare, blah blah blah. Search the web. And let's be honest, you're going to be the best Young Women's President. I'm almost jealous I'm not 13. Hugs!
